Graduation Academic Honors
Graduation honors are based upon the student's cumulative Lakeview GPA one semester prior to meeting graduation requirements at LCN. Students with GPA's of 3.6 and above earned at the College will be recognized and published according to the following:
Summa Cum Laude - 3.95 or Higher
Magna Cum Laude - 3.80 - 3.94
Cum Laude - 3.6 - 3.799
Graduation Requirements
Lakeview College of Nursing awards the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) after the student has completed the degree requirements and upon recommendation by the faculty and the approval of the Board of Directors. The responsibility for knowing and achieving these requirements rests with the student.
Pre-RN Licensure Students
- Completion of the related general education College course requirements with a minimum GPA of at least a 2.5 on a four-point scale. Students who have not submitted transcripts for outstanding general education/prerequisite courses will not be allowed to enroll in Level IV courses.
- Completion of all College of Nursing courses with a grade of C or above and a minimum GPA of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Completion of a minimum of 124 semester hours credit. A minimum of 30 semester hours credit must be earned from Lakeview College of Nursing with 16 of the credit hours from Levels III nursing courses (may include Proficiency, Portfolio and Independent Study credits).
- Once the student enrolls in the College of Nursing, the degree requirements are to be completed within three calendar years for full time students and six years for half-time students. The credentials and program of a candidate unable to meet this requirement will be reevaluated.
- Prospective graduates must complete an "INTENT TO GRADUATE" form and return it to the Director of Enrollment/Registrar a semester prior to graduation.
- Payment of a graduation fee of $150.00 (subject to change) when enrolled in N408.
- All College and when applicable EIU obligations must be cleared.
- Satisfactory completion of diagnostic exams related to NCLEX-RN licensure.
- In addition, an NCLEX-RN review course (approved by the Dean of Nursing) is required.
RN Students
- Completion of 124 credit hours, including 37 credit hours of the IAI general education curriculum consisting of the following:
- 9 Credit Hours in English/Composition/Speech/Literature
- 9 Credit Hours in Social/Behavioral Sciences
- 3 Credit Hours in Math
- 9 Credit Hours in Humanities/Fine Arts/Foreign Language
- 7-8 Credit Hours in Physical and Life Science
- Completion of nursing courses with a grade of "C" or better in each and a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and an overall cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
- Prospective graduates must complete an "INTENT TO GRADUATE" form and return it to the Director of Enrollment/Registrar a semester prior to graduation.
- Payment of a graduation fee of $150.00 (subject to change) when enrolled in RN408.
- All College and when applicable EIU obligations must be cleared.

Commencement
Commencement ceremonies for both campuses are held bi-annually at the end of the spring and fall semester in Danville, Illinois. A student registered to complete graduation requirements in the summer may participate in the commencement ceremony.

Publishing
A listing of graduation candidates and/or individual photos may be posted on the website and/or forwarded to the media each semester. If a student does NOT wish for this graduation information to be published they must check the appropriate box on the Student Hometown Bureau News Release Form and return this within the first week of class for the semester of which will be publicized. Additionally, in order for the information TO BE RELEASED to a SPECIFIC hometown newspaper the student must return the Student Hometown Bureau News Release Form.
Caps & Gowns
The cost of the cap & gown is the responsibility of each individual graduate. Students that qualify for honor cords will receive one prior to the scheduled photo sessions. The College will cover the cost of honor cords. The Herff Jones representative will be on each campus to take orders for caps and gowns.

Please make every effort to attend so that caps and gowns can be ordered in a timely fashion!
College Pins
Students from both campuses will receive a Lakeview College of Nursing Pin at graduation held in Danville, IL. The cost of the pin is included in the graduation fee.

Diplomas
Diploma covers will be distributed at commencement. Diplomas will be mailed approximately one month after commencement when an audit of the student's record is complete (all transfer credits are received and all Lakeview grades are posted). Students who received financial aid will be required to complete exit counseling before anything can be released. The cost of the diploma and diploma cover is included in the graduation fee.
Graduation Survey
A survey will be distributed to all potenial graduates and must be completed and returned to the Registrar's office at least 3 weeks prior to Commencement.
Pictures
All graduates are encouraged to participate in a pre-graduation individual photo. This is included in the standard graduation fee. Additional photos will be available for purchase. A professional photographer will be on-site at each campus. Unfortunately if you are not able to attend there will be no reschedule time. Arrangements have been made for all graduates.

Additional Photos will be taken the day of graduation. A professional photographer will be on site to take group photos. Payment will be due at graduation along with order. Participation in this group photo serves as permission from the individual for LCN to post the photo to its website and/or forward it to the media. The College will provide a pinning photo from graduation that will be mailed out with your diploma. Click here for order form. Please be sure that you bring the order form along with payment to graduation to hand to the photographer.
